How striking! The facial expression is so full: most models unfortunately assume a blank face to attract or to not stand out. But the expression here is quite what elevates this photograph's intensity and is perhaps the reason it is so striking. The title is intriguing and comments on the expression.

As for the technical side of the photograph, it is well done. The colour composition is natural: from the centre, deep blue eyes. Moving outward are eyebrows that fade into pale skin. Flecks of grey hair are amidst bland brown. The background seals the colour properly: a wash of grey-blue. That grey-blue consumes the portrait. She is properly placed in the frame for a portrait.

But I must return to the expression. There's not much I can say, but it draws me to notice it above all else in the photograph. The colour composition, the messy up-do, the powdered eyebrows: all these, while good on their own, work to emphasize the expression. That is where the impact lies, and if there was any more to it, the photo would become gaudy.

Noting two more things. Simple pose, and no clothes. These two things work also for impact. They make the photo raw and real.

Nicely done.
